The biggest gaming event in Indonesia was a blast! BEKRAF Game Prime 2017 that was held last July not only became a place to meet fellow game industry stakeholders and create networks, but also a place for gamers to have fun and play game all day long.
This year, BEKRAF Game Prime 2017 was held in two different formats: B2B or Business Day on Thursday, July 27, and B2C or Public Day on Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30. Both events were flooded by participants; it’s even exceeded the quota!
On the Business Day, there were 647 people came and learnt six sessions provided. And on the Public Day, there were about 12.427 gamers come and play all day long in two days!
Six Sessions by Industry’s Experts
The Business Day event presented more than 15 locals and international industry’s experts. They share their insights about the game industry, such as on how to bridge fresh graduate talents with industry needs; to implement the right mobile ads in Indonesia; and to make a cool game that grabs the gamers’ attention.
The Business Day event was not only a place to exchange their knowledge but was also a chance for industry’s stakeholders to know each other and build new relations. There were around 600 people that came, exceeding the venue’s capacity! This makes the Business Day event of BEKRAF Game Prime becomes one of the biggest game business events in Indonesia and in South East Asia.
Some of the speakers that shared their knowledge about education in game industry onthat day were Hilmy Abdul from KDU University Malaysia, Andry Chowanda from Bina Nusantara University; and then there were Namira Chaldea from Own Games and Brigitta Rena from Mojiken Studio that shared more of technicality of game assets.
From technical and business’ aspect, there were some big names from the game industry, such as Anton Soeharyo (CEO of Touchten Games), Kris Antoni (CEO from Toge Productions), Wei Chong Ho (Developer Relations Manager from Unity), David Yin (Business Developer from Google Play) and many more!
More than 100 Local Games to Play All Day Long!
After the Business Day, a Public Day event was held for two days straight. With the concept “play all day long”, there were more than 50 developers that brought more than 100 games in total for the attendees to play. Not only digital games, but there were also some locally made board games that served people with joy by playing them.
Besides digital games and board games, there was some entertainment that participants can enjoy, such as Virtual Reality experience, Toys Alley, Artist Alley, Retro Gaming Area, and some eSports competition.
There were 50 indie booths that passed the selection from BEKRAF, AGI and Duniaku.net; more than 10 booths from big developers in Indonesia like Agate Studio, Touchten, Toge Productions, Own Games and Arsanesia; and around 20 board game’ tables that served some of the best local and international board games.
The presence of mainstream gamers in this event really helped the game developers, especially to get the feedbacks and suggestions to make the games more interesting for them. It’s not only that; BEKRAF Game Prime 2017 also became an arena for developers to meet in person with gamers that are their target market.
Not Only Games!
Not only games, but BEKRAF Game Prime 2017 also had more entertainment contents. There were Toys Area that showed some of local toys’ creators like Good Guys Never Win, Indonesia Art Toys and Indo One Sixter; cosplay performance by Order66 Indonesia that made people lined up to get a chance to take their photos! And there were Artist Alley that displayed some creation from some of the top Indonesian illustrators like Ghosty’s Comics, Jonbray and Pionicon.
Not only that, in those two days we also held some workshop and coding training for kids from Berkarya Indonesia. Some of the partner’s booth also offered freebies that can be collected by the attendees, including Duniaku.net’s booth that provided a lot of free merchandises to get by finishing a mini game challenge.
