To develop a Virtual Reality ecosystem, Discovery Nusantara Capital (DNC) gives seed funding to one of the VR startups in Indonesia, OMNIVR.
There are so many Virtual Reality (VR) startups in Indonesia. One of them is OMNIVR that was established in March 2016. Recently, OMNIVR announced that they get seed funding from DNC for an undisclosed amount.
OMNIVR itself is a VR startup that focuses on creating and developing VR products such as game, virtual simulation, and arcade.
Through the press release, OmniVR states that they will use this seed funding to develop its VR business, both locally and globally. With the collaboration between DNC’s and OMNIVR’s partners, they have a plan to open VR Arcade Center and VR Channels in various places in Indonesia.
“We see that OMNIVR have a big vision to develops VR ecosystem in Indonesia,” said Irene Umar, Managing Partner from DNC. “They understand that VR distribution will run optimally if it collaborates with mature industries such as game and eSports. It’s gonna be a massive collaboration with us because they have the right tools and we have the right ecosystem,” she continued.
Before this, DNC has also given funding to other Indonesia’s game companies such as Touchten Games, Toge Productions, Duniaku.net, Revival TV and Arsanesia. Thus, OMNIVR is the 8th portfolio that is part of the big family of DNC in Indonesia.
More VR Access to More People
“If the needed tools for playing are still expensive (around the US $2,000-US $3,000), we can’t develop the VR ecosystem in Indonesia,” said Nico Alyus, CEO from OMNIVR when we met him in Mainvrame, their VR arcade center. “Our main task now is to give more access to more people, to feel the maximum VR experience with affordable price,” he continued.
To realize this plan, until this end of the year OMNIVR will open some new Mainvrame’s branches in Indonesia. Also, they will collaborate with other partners like arcade and amusement center to distribute various VR experience.
Duniaku.net, Indonesia’s biggest game, geek culture, and gadget media, announced that they have received funding from Discovery Nusantara Capital (DNC)
Congratulations for OMNIVR!
