Some Indonesian developers will participate in Game Connection America 2018 (GCA 2018) next March through Archipelageek.
Archipelageek, the initiative from Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (BEKRAF) and Indonesian Game Association (Asosiasi Game Indonesia, AGI) will continue its journey in 2018. For the start, they will participate in GCA 2018 that will be held in San Francisco next March.
Archipelageek is an initiative from BEKRAF and AGI to support Indonesian game developers by participating in game conventions, both local and international. This project was started last August when Archipelageek helped around 10 developers to showcase their games in PopCon Asia 2017.
Later on, Archipelageek continues to support Indonesian game developers through some international events, such as Tokyo Game Show 2017 and GStar 2017. The Archipelageek’s main goal is to accelerate Indonesia’s game industry faster than before through collaborations with other industry’s stakeholders both local and international.
What is Game Connection America 2018?
GCA 2018 is a game industry event labeled with “The Deal Making Event“. Game Connection is the international event where more than 2,700 developers, publishers, distributors and service providers come to find new partners and/or (in the case of service providers) find new clients. GCA 2018 itself will be held in San Francisco, March 19 to 21, 2018.
Last year, there were more than 7,700 deals through this event, with average ROI around US$300,000. So, it’s a great place for Indonesian developers to meet a new partner, and discuss potential collaboration for the future. With more collaborations to happen, we can hope that Indonesian game industry will accelerate faster than before.
Some notable participants in last year event are Nintendo, Ubisoft, SEGA, AppAnnie, Bandai Namco, Activision Blizzard, GoG, and EA.
The Game Connection itself is held twice a year. Besides GCA that takes place in San Francisco every summer, there is also Game Connection Europe that makes it every fall in Lyon, France.

Through its official fanpage, AGI already opened a registration for developers who want to join this event. The registration will open until the 23rd of January, 2018. The registrants will be shortlisted, and some of the best will get a chance to represent Indonesia in this event.
