First Details of Tokyo Game Show 2018 Emerges, New Theme Announced

More new activity on stage, more eSports, and more indies!

Japanese Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association (CESA) already announced some details about the next Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2018 alongside with the TGS 2018’s new theme. What is that?

TGS is one of the biggest gaming conventions in Asia and the world. Every year, this convention attracts more than 200,000 attendance across the world, and also hundreds of company to showcase their latest product. Now, CESA as the organizer announces some details of the next iteration of this event, and also TGS 2018’s new theme.

TGS 2018 will be hosted from September 20 to September 23, still in Makuhari Messe, Chiba, near Tokyo. For this year’s event, TGS 2018 new theme is “The Opening of New Stage”, which means there will be a lot of activities in the stage for the audience, including eSports competitions, live broadcasting, stage events, and more.

TGS 2018 will be divided into General Exhibition, Smartphone Game Corner, Romance Game Corner, Game School Corner, and Family Game Park in the halls between 1 and 8. The eSports Corner, VR/AR Corner, Indie Game Corner, and Merchandise Corner will be in the between hall 9 and 11.

During the business days (September 20 and 21) there will be some events like Global Game Business Summit, the Sense of Wonder Night 2018, the TGS Forum 2018, and the International Party for media and business visitors.

The Sense of Wonder Night is one of the highlights of the business day. This is the place where indie game developers around the world showcase their latest idea and innovation. The best game of this event gets not only awarded the trophy but also a guarantee to get more exposure and lot of excitement when it’s released.

One of the highlights of this TGS 2018’s new theme will be the eSports-X event which made its debut last year. This year, eSports-X event will level up with an expanded venue, more games, and also more players from across the world to join in.

Last year, eSports-X was divided into two main stages, Blue Stage and Red Stage which could accommodate around 500 attendance each. The Blue Stage was a stage sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Red Stage was sponsored by Samsung Japan.

There will be some world-class eSports tournament held in this two stages, ranging from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Street Fighter V, Monster Hunter Double Cross Nintendo Switch Ver, and Counter-Strike Online 2.
