Top PC game developed by Digital Happiness, DreadOut, soon will be adapted into a movie. Here are the first details about DreadOut movie.
When we talk about PC games developed by Indonesian developers, DreadOut should be on the top of our mind. DreadOut is the first PC games that succeeded in its crowdfunding campaign via IndieGoGo, and it’s also the first one to make its way to Steam. The game also gained a big success in terms of revenue with nearly 300,000 copies owned according to data from SteamSpy.
Now, Digital Happiness as the developer wants to takes the DreadOut franchise to a whole new level. They have confirmed that DreadOut soon will make its way to the big screen!
The announcement first came from PopCon Asia’s official fan page. The page says that the DreadOut movie will come true soon, and now they are doing the casting call.

That first announcement was, then, echoed by a talent coordinator Instagram account Stanleeactor. In their announcement, they said that now they are doing the casting call process to search actors who will fit the roles. Via this announcement also, we can learn more details about this movie. This movie will be produced and directed by Rumah Dara‘s directors Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel, who are known as The Mo Brothers. They are known as directors specialized in Indonesian horror-styled movies. Rumah Dara and Takut: Faces of Fear are two of their masterpieces as directors.
Will it follow the game storyline?
Because they are now in casting call process, they haven’t shared any details about the movie plot yet. But if the movie follows the game storyline, it means that this movie will focus on Linda. Linda is a high school student trapped in an old abandoned town. Equipped with her trusty smartphone and an SLR camera, she will battle against terrifying encounters and solve mysterious puzzles which will ultimately determine her fate.
Besides DreadOut project, Digital Happiness currently released a VR project called DreadEye VR. DreadEye VR is a virtual reality experience that allows you to become a dukun (Indonesian shaman). In this game, you can craft and combine ingredients as you practice an ancient ritual, then open the gate to the spirit realm to commune with the dead.
