It’s that time of year in which Game Developers Conference (GDC) shares their State of the Industry Survey for 2018. The main focus was, unsurprisingly, the Nintendo Switch.
So, what do developers have to say about the Switch? Find out in the article below.
GDC says that 1 out of 3 developers are interested in the Nintendo Switch. Out of all the consoles, 36% developers showed interest on this platform rather than on platform such as PlayStation 4 or PC.
39% of developers polled on PS4/PS4 Pro, whereas 59% polled for PC platform. Looking at the numbers, the Switch which was recently introduced last year already had a bigger total percentage than the Xbox One who had 28% of the poll. Also, only 3% below the big giants such as PS4 indicates that there is something special about the Switch.
12% of the developers also state that they are currently making games for the Switch. Whereas 15% of those developers are already in the process of making their games available.
The most interesting is the data that was gained regarding which platform was the best in terms of selling. As the title implies, 76% of developers stated that the Switch is the go-to platform in terms of sales.
So what does this mean for the gaming industry in Indonesia? Based on the data we received from GDC, we can conclude that the Nintendo Switch has a bright future ahead. So developers are encouraged to develop games for the Switch to gain more sales benefit.
This means great opportunities lie ahead for Indonesian game developers and publishers. Those who are ready to set their games to Switch such as Fallen Legion, Legrand Legacy, and Ultra Space Battle Brawl are all indie games from Indonesia.
