Good luck to Batara Riasta and Lucky Ma’arif!

After grabbing the runner-up title in Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) League Asia 2 vs 2 Tournament 2018 in Thailand, now Batara Riasta and Lucky Ma’arif from Indonesia will compete in World Electronic Sports Games 2018 (WESG 2018)!

Batara & Lucky will compete in WESG 2018 after they get an invitation from the game publisher, Konami. Konami invites them because of their solid performance while competing in PES League Asia 2 v 2 in Bangkok, Thailand, last January. In that tournament, Batara & Lucky who compete under the name Surabaya Gaming Team successfully grabbed the runner-up title.

WESG 2018 will be held in Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the 13th to 18th March 2018. This event is held by Alisports, the subsidiary of Alibaba Group that also organizes the WESG Finals on the same date.

WESG 2018

This event will use a single-elimination format and will be participated by 8 players. There are 3 countries that will compete in this tournament. They are China (4 players), Japan (2 players) and Indonesia (2 players). They will compete to win the total prize around US$8,000!

WESG 2018

As we said before, this PES 2018 competition in WESG 2018 will use a single elimination format, home away like UEFA Champions League in the real world. The most interesting is, players are not allowed to use the same team with their opponent, and they are allowed to use only one of these eight teams:

  1. Arsenal
  2. AC Milan
  3. Borussia Dortmund
  4. Atletico Madrid
  5. FC Barcelona
  6. Inter Milan
  7. Liverpool
  8. Schalke

The other additional rule is players are allowed to use one of those team only once in the tournament. So, if a player already used Inter Milan in the first match, he is not allowed to use the same team again if he plays in the second match. This is a quite new rule, and it is possible to be implemented in the next international tournament.

Batara and Lucky are the two of the best PES players in Indonesia. Surely this event will give another great experience for them, and it will also motivate other players and PES community in Indonesia to do the same.

You can watch their action through WESG 2018 official Twitch channel. Good luck to Batara and Lucky!
