It’s not anything special if we see so many endless runner games in the Google Play Store or iTunes App Store. But the most iconic one of them all has to be Subway Surfers. Recently, it just hit 1 billion downloads in Google Play Store, making it the most downloaded game in Google’s official store.
According to a statement from Kiloo and SYBO, the developers behind the game, it is confirmed that on March 15, 2018, Subway Surfers passed 1 billion downloads on the Play Store.
Jacob Møller, CEO of Kiloo stated:
We are thrilled to be the biggest game in the world on the Google Play platform. Surpassing 1 billion downloads is a historic accomplishment. In this case, history was written by a talented team of developers and a fantastic collaboration between SYBO and Kiloo.
Subway Surfers was first released on the Google Play Store in May of 2012. It gained massive fan growth over the past years. Google Play and iOS downloads combined, the game was downloaded 350 million times in 2015, another 330 million downloads in 2016, and 400 million downloads in 2017.
One of the reasons why Subway Surfers is gaining more and more players is because the developers add a new setting each month, and continually add new characters, contents, and rewards.
The game is also moving into animation series which will air in mid-2018. Not only animation series, it is also licensing its brand for clothes and other merchandise. But as of now, no data were found regarding the total sales revenue or the total sales they produced from merchandise.
In Subway Surfers, you play as Jake, Tricky and Fresh to escape from the grumpy Inspector and his dog. You will need to dash as fast as you can and also dodge trains that are coming your way.
