After gaining success in PC, one of Indonesian best selling horror games, DreadOut will be adapted into a webcomic in collaboration with CIAYO Comics!
The great news first came from CIAYO Comics’ CEO, Borton Liew. In his Facebook statement, Borton said that some of the Indonesian talents will team up to bring this idea to life. First, there is Dedy Koerniawan Soesanto from Padepokan Ragasukma who is one of the CIAYO Comic’s official authors for a horror comic called Sinawang. Then, the script will be written by Ella Hung.

This project will be under direct supervision from Borton, alongside with Digital Happiness’ CEO and DreadOut‘s game producer, Rachmad Imron.
“This comic will be a direct adaptation of DreadOut game,” said Borton to Gameprime.org. “There are 12 episodes that will be published once a week, starting from mid-July 2018 after Eid,” Borton continued.
Unfortunately, there are no further details about this webcomic including the storyline. But according to the statement, we can expect that the comic will be focused on Linda, the main protagonist of DreadOut.
Linda is a high school student trapped in an old abandoned town. Equipped with her trusty smartphone and an SLR camera, she will battle against terrifying encounters and solve mysterious puzzles which will ultimately determine her fate.
Besides DreadOut project, Digital Happiness currently released a VR project called DreadEye VR. DreadEye VR is a virtual reality experience that allows you to become a dukun (Indonesian shaman). In this game, you can craft and combine ingredients as you practice an ancient ritual, then open the gate to the spirit realm to commune with the dead.
Also adapted into a movie

Besides this webcomic, as we already know DreadOut also will be adapted into a movie. This movie will be produced and directed by Rumah Dara‘s directors Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel, who are known as The Mo Brothers. They are known as directors specialized in Indonesian horror-styled movies. Rumah Dara and Takut: Faces of Fear are two of their masterpieces as directors.
What do you think about this movie and webcomic adaptation? Can it be as successful as the PC game?
