There will be more eSport competitions in Asian Games 2018. Notable titles would be Clash Royale, League of Legends, and also Pro Evolution Soccer 2018.
After the news came out that Arena of Valor (AoV) would be featuring in this years’ Asian Games, we were all excited. Now, not only AoV that is confirmed, other games will also join the party.
Cited from the official Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF):
Esports is a demonstration sport at the 18th Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games 2018 this August. The competition, co-organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) and the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), will feature six events.
According to the website, there will be two types of events: Team Event and Individual Event. Team Event will host the popular League of Legends, Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, and also Arena of Valor.
As for the Individual Event, there will also be three games. These games are StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, Hearthstone, and last but not least Clash Royale.
So the question is how do you register yourself to be part of this exhibition? Well, as you might have known, each region has it’s own National Olympic Committee (NOC). You must contact your regions’ NOC for further details. For Indonesian players, you can visit NOC Indonesia’s official website for more info.
As for the timeline, you can register yourself starting from May 10 – 31, 2018. The regional qualifier competition will then be held on June 10 -20, 2018. The regions include East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, West Asia, and South East Asia.
Here are the number of players/teams that can represent each region.
|Region||League of Legends||Pro Evolution Soccer 2018||Arena of Valor
(Honor of Kings International)
|StarCraft II||Hearthstone||Clash Royale|
|South East Asia||1||2||1||2||2||2|
It’s really nice to know that eSport is growing year by year. We just hope that someday there will be an official medal eligible tournament, not just exhibition.
