Indonesian board game will exhibit again in Essen SPIEL 2018, Germany. Now, the Indonesia Board Game Association is holding an open call for every creator who wants to join in.
The board game industry is one of the industries that has been growing faster for the last 4 years, not only in Indonesia but also in the world. In Indonesia, currently, there has been nearly 40 board games released to the market since 2014. According to the data, Indonesia’s Board Game Association (Asosiasi Pegiat Board Game Indonesia/APIBGI) predicts that at the end of 2018, there will be around 20 local board game creators to publish their products in Indonesia.
So, to introduce the Indonesian board game to the world and accelerate the growth, for the third time, some of the Indonesian board game will exhibit again in the biggest board game convention in the world, Essen SPIEL 2018.
For this year’s participation, APIBGI collaborates with Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (BEKRAF) under Archipelageek brand. Archipelageek itself is an initiative from BEKRAF that supports Indonesian games to exhibit in overseas conventions such as Tokyo Game Show and PAX East. The Archipelageek booth will take place in Hall 3 Messe Essen.
This is one of the BEKRAF’s initiatives to support the local game industry. The organization hopes that with this participation, it can accelerate the growth of Indonesia’s board game industry faster than before.
“The booth will take place in a 66 square meters area and will contain board games that not only represent the industry, but also represent Indonesia as a country,” said Andre Dubari, Head of APIBGI according to the press release. “So, it’s important to do the good curation process to select the best board games in Indonesia by doing this open call procedure,” he added.
