“If you come without a business card in a developers conference, find the nearest Snapy right away,” Adam Ardisasmita, CEO of Arsanesia. That should be the first tip to create a solid networking during a game event.
Solid networking during a game event is undoubtedly a key to success in developing your company. Whether it be a startup or a big company, networking is a core element regardless.
During BEKRAF Game Prime 2018, three panelists came up to share their thoughts and experience. These panelists were Hari Sungkari, Infrastructure Deputy from Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF), Arief Widhiyasa, CEO of Agate, and Adam Ardisasmita, CEO of Arsanesia.
The panel itself was part of the business day from BEKRAF Game Prime 2018 on July 13, 2018. It gathered more than 500 participants from all over Indonesia. Most of them were mostly new-coming developers who wanted to thrive in the industry.
Other than agreeing that networking is a solid aspect, each of them also had something worth noting. Hari stated that when building a network, trust is the biggest part that comes to mind because only with trust can someone want to cooperate with others in terms of business.
Arief, on the other hand, pointed out that when building a network, focus on quality over quantity. It’s ok to trade business card as much as possible during an event. But it would be more useful if you only gather 10 cards from people but have quality talks with them rather than 200 but you’re in a rush.
If you are wondering why Indonesian developer Arsanesia is sustaining up until now, it is because of networking. Adam, the CEO confirmed this. “The game industry is harsh,” he said. “The first three years we made a profit not by our games, but through projects from our network.”
