Recently, Sony published in its blog post that it has sold over 3 million PlayStation VR headsets. Adding on to that, the company also announced that 21.9 million PlayStation VR games were also sold.
Shinta VR announces Codename: Mindvoke, a new VR multiplayer game that will be the first VR eSports tournament in Indonesia.
October 2016, Sony revealed these headsets. And at that time, it claimed to have sold 1 million pieces, meaning that the other 2 million had been sold in the last 20 months.
One of the reasons for an upswing in sales was of course because of Sony’s decision. In October 2017, it decided to release an upgraded version of headsets. The upgraded version included a new device packing, an upgraded processor with HDR support, a streamlined connection cable, and a stereo headphone cable connector.
All of the upgrades were sold at the same price as the previous version – US$399 price tag.
That being said, Sony also released 10 titles that were sold the most and the company also thanked the developers and publishers for all the support.
The top ten most-played games on the platform span across diverse genres, from action-RPG to horror to the first-person shooter, including:
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
- PlayStation VR Worlds
- Rec Room
- Resident Evil 7 biohazard
- The Playroom VR
- Job Simulator
- Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
- Batman: Arkham VR
- Superhot VR
With this news, Sony is also encouraging other players to look forward to further titles that are going to release for the PlayStation VR. The two games that they will feature include Creed: Rise to Glory which will be released on September 25th, 2018.
After DreadOut's huge success, Digital Happiness is now preparing a horror VR called DreadEye. How scary is this game?
And the other game is called Evasion which will be released October 9th, 2018. Both of the games can be pre-ordered right now.
