It’s time for you to add these game to your PS4’s wishlist!

PlayStation Experience Southeast Asia already held its second edition, PlayStation Experience SEA 2018, in Bangkok, Thailand, 18th and 19th of August, 2018. This event was not only a place where gamers can play the latest PS4 games’ demo but also a place for some Southeast Asia indie developers to meet their potential users.

There were six indie developers made by Southeast Asian developers that had a chance to exhibit in this annual event. Although they were indie games, they still got the same treatment as the AAA titles from Sony. They got the same booth size as Resident Evil 2 Remake or Megaman XI; got the same highlights, and also had collectible cards to be given to the gamers who had finished playing the demo.

We had a chance to try them out and here’s our quick impression from a couple of minutes playing the games.

1

Ultra Space Battle Brawl (Mojiken Studio-Indonesia)

The first game that we tried was the Ultra Space Battle Brawl from Mojiken Studio, Indonesia.

Ultra Space Battle Brawl is a Pong-inspired game born from an internal upgrading session held in Mojiken Studio back in 2015. This is a multiplayer game where you should destroy your opponent crystal to score a point.

This game was released on Nintendo Switch last July, and PS4 would be the second platform for it. Besides the fun of a multiplayer game, this game offers a enjoyable Java-themed music that mix with some modern taste.

Not only showcased in the booth, this game was also contested on the main stage as a mini-competition that attracted audiences to participate and grab the prize.

2

Legrand Legacy (Semisoft-Indonesia)

Another game from Indonesia to participate was a JRPG-inspired game called Legrand Legacy. This game first hit the PC platform back in January, and same as Ultra Space Battle Brawl, PS4 would be its second platform.

Because it is mostly inspired by 90’s JRPGs, Legrand Legacy has a similar gameplay in which it is a turn-based with quick time event element that the developers described it as ACT (Action Circle Tempo). In this gameplay mechanism, you should press the right button at the right time to make your attack stronger.

Surely this kind of gameplay looks better using the DualShock 4 controller. The developers said that the PS4 version will be released soon this year.

3

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story (Agate-Indonesia)

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is the debut title of Agate in the console. This game continues the legacy of Valthirian Arc‘s franchise that previously popular as a web-based game in some portal like Kongregate or Armor Games.

This game combines the isometric style action RPG with an academy-building simulation. You should build and manage the academy; recruit students and then send them to do a series of quest.

The title is previously known as Valthirian Arc: Red Covenant that gained success in its Kickstarter campaign. Agate plans to releases this title later in 2018.

4

Buglords (Ratloop-Singapore)

PlayStation Experience SEA 2018

Buglords is a four-player offline multiplayer competitive game. You portray a bug who should eliminate other (player) bugs. The gameplay imitates the arcade twin-stick shooter where you can shoot, avoid incoming attacks, and get some power-ups from the plants.

Ratloop Asia is the subsidiary of the Ratloop that previously based in the US. Their previous work, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken dubbed as one of the first Southeast Asian game that released on PlayStation platform.

5

Cat Quest II (The Gentlebros-Singapore)

Cat Quest II is an action RPG from Singapore based developer, The Gentlebros. In this game, you must slay dragons, save the girl, help people, and eventually save the world.

What makes this sequel different from the first game is that now you can control two characters. the cat and the dog. Both of them have unique specializations, and you can switch between them anytime. If you play with your friend, you can play the co-op features and collaborate to save the world from destruction!

6

Aeterno Blade 2 (Corecell-Thailand)

Aeterno Blade 2 is a sequel from hack and slash adventure made by Thailand developer. But this is not an ordinary hack and slash game. The developer already adds some features such as RPG elements, a side-scrolling puzzle, and time manipulation gameplay.

You can choose from one of the three characters provided in this game. Every character has a combat specialization, such as Freyja with the Sword, Bernard with the Halberd and Felix with the Whip Blade.
