When two big companies work together to create something, it may be the next biggest thing. This goes for the new Game of Thrones mobile game.
Game of Thrones has been one of, if not the best and most anticipated, TV series thus far. This America’s most popular TV shows a high number of viewers, with 16.5 million households tuning in to watch the season 7 finale.
Surprisingly, those numbers don’t include people who streamed or downloaded the show online. With season 8 around the corner, what could be more exciting than receiving news that there will be a Game of Thrones mobile game?
Yup, for this game, Chinese giants Tencent will collaborate with license owner, Warner Bros. Based on reports from Abacus News, the game will be named Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming.
Tencent as the publisher will collaborate with Yoozoo to develop this game. The new Game of Thrones mobile game will be a strategy game but different from the previous mobile game, Game of Thrones: Conquest.
Sadly, the game will be available for China region only with no further reports on whether the game will be expanded to other regions.
Additionally, considering that the TV series is heavily censored in China, it is possible that the game will have a bit of challenge from the Chinese Government.
Tencent is known for releasing popular IPs in China, especially on the mobile version. The latest hit game that was released by Tencent is PUBG Mobile.
That eventually resonated to Tencent’s boost in income through mobile game. The company also invested US$15 million for Fortnite (despite its heaviest competitor to PUBG).
They also invested in eSport tournaments as well as collaboration on tech and culture in the UK.
