After the success of DreadOut, there are not many horror games based on Indonesian folklore and become so popular. But now, another indie game studio from Indonesia, StoryTale Studios tries to achieve the same milestone with Pamali: Indonesian Folklore Horror.
According to the Steam store, Pamali is a horror game shaped by the taboos and culture that live among Indonesian society itself. In this game, you will explore an abandoned Indonesian house to solve the mystery of a family. Because it’s a horror game, prepare yourself to encounter some spooky beings inside the house!
As an adventure point-and-click game, this game has lots of puzzles to be solved. You can interact and give different reactions to every object inside the house. Be careful since every action that you do in this game will affect the ending of the game.
Multiple-endings is one of the key focus of the game. You can make different decisions in each situation, and it will lead you to a different ending too.
Four different episodes will be released periodically
Pamali will come in four episodes. On December 28, 2018, StoryTale Studios already released the base game and its first episode. Titled Folklore One: The White Lady, the first episode tells about a young man named Jaka. He has just gone back to his hometown to sell his old family house.
While he is unpacking, cleaning, and renovating the house, he disregards many of his family’s old belongings and makes rude remarks. Not long after, he experiences mysterious and unexplained events. He eventually learns that the family has a secret and that he is not alone in the house.
StoryTale Studios confirms that the other three episodes will be released continuously starting from Q1 of 2019. You can buy each episode for US$4.99. Or if you want to, you can buy the Anthology bundle that contains the base game (including the first episode) and other three episodes that will be released next year for US$14.49.
