Indonesia Agency for Creative Economy (Badan Ekonomi Kreatif Indonesia/BEKRAF) and Indonesia Game Association (Asosiasi Game Indonesia/AGI) have the initiative to support Indonesia’s game industry called Archipelageek. Now, BEKRAF and AGI have announced that they will, once again, bring the Archipelageek initiative to Game Connection America 2019 (GCA 2019) next month.
Archipelageek is an initiative from BEKRAF and AGI to support Indonesian game developers by participating in both local and international game conventions. This project was started in 2017 when Archipelageek helped around 10 developers to showcase their games in PopCon Asia 2017.
This is the second participation of Indonesian delegates in GCA. Last year, Archipelageek accommodated eight Indonesian game developers/publishers to exhibit in GCA 2018.
For this year, there will be ten game developers/publishers to participate in GCA 2019. The event itself will be held in Oracle Park, San Francisco, the United States on March 18-19, 2019.

Last year, GCA 2018 was a big success for Indonesian game developers/publishers. Some of them had met their potential partner such as Lentera Nusantara, who signed a deal with Aksys to publish Ghost Parade this year. Another success story came for Agate, who collaborated with PQube to release Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story last year.
“Our game industry is in a critical position; we have a huge market, but the majority of the spending is absorbed by foreign companies,” said Cipto Adiguno, AGI’s Deputy of Network Access and Capital. “Because of that, we should develop this industry so it can be a sustainable business. One of our efforts is to create the business deals through the Game Connection America 2019,” he continued.
What is GCA 2019?
GCA 2019 is a game industry event labeled with “The Deal Making Event“. Game Connection is the international event where more than 2,700 developers, publishers, distributors and service providers come to find new partners and/or (in the case of service providers) find new clients.
Every year, there were more than 7,700 deals done through this event, with an average ROI of around US$300,000. So, it’s a great place for Indonesian developers to meet a new partner, and discuss potential collaboration for the future. With more collaborations to happen, we can hope that the Indonesian game industry will accelerate faster than before.
This is How BEKRAF and AGI Help Indonesian Game Dev to Expand Their Business Through Game Connection America 2018
Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (BEKRAF) and Indonesia Game Association (AGI) continue to support Indonesian game developers through some of their initiatives. Now, they give support to 8 Indonesian game developers to exhibit their creation in Game Connection America 2018 (GCA 2018).
Some notable participants in last year event are Bandai Namco, GoG, SEGA, Sony, Activision Blizzard, EA, and many more.
The Game Connection itself is held twice a year. Besides Game Connection America that takes place in San Francisco every summer, there is also Game Connection Europe that kicks off every fall in France.
