Like we mentioned in our previous article, once again Indonesia Agency for Creative Economy (BEKRAF) and Indonesia Game Association (AGI) show their support to the Indonesian game industry. This time, they open an opportunity for some Indonesian game companies to participate in Europe’s biggest game event, Gamescom 2019 in Cologne, Germany.
This participation will be part of the Archipelageek initiative from BEKRAF and AGI. Last March, Archipelageek also brought 11 Indonesian game companies to participate in Game Connection America 2019.
The open call process was done last month. Then, all of the registered participants presented their works in front of a team of curators at the end of April 2019. The curatorial team had a big job. They should shortlist the participants into 10 game companies that will have a chance to exhibit their creations in Gamescom 2019.
The curatorial team decided the winners based on certain criteria. First, they check the product’s readiness to be exhibited in Gamescom 2019. Also, the curatorial team checks the potential deal when a game company gets a chance to go there. And last, but not least, the curators also look at the game companies’ track record in their previous works or participation in events.
After a though discussion, finally, the curatorial team announced the 10 game companies that would represent Indonesia in Gamescom 2019 through Archipelageek initiative. Here they are.
- OmniVR (VR game developer and product distributor)
- Komodoz (game company that focuses on doing AAA game assets outsourcing)
- Agate International (game developer and publisher)
- IESPL (eSports organizer)
- Masshive Media (game developer)
- Megaxus Infotech (game publisher)
- Plexus & Oray (game developer)
- Ozysoft Digital (game developer)
- Wawa Games (game developer)
- Touchten Games (game developer)
The ten selected companies will get a booth in Indonesia pavilion at Gamescom 2019’s B2B area. Besides that, two representatives from each company will get shared accommodation and access to Gamescom 2019’s matchmaking system. This system can be used to arrange some meetings with the other companies before they fly to the event.
Gamescom 2019 will be held in Cologne, Germany in five days, August 20 to 24, 2019. Just like other game industry events, Gamescom 2019 will be divided into two parts. The first two days will be a B2B event where game companies all around the world can meet and discuss partnership opportunities. And the rest three days will be a B2C event for gamers who want to try the latest games.
Congratulations to the winners!
