Find out the nominees here.

BEKRAF Game Prime is back and we all know what it means: Game Prime Awards is also back! Through Game Prime Awards 2019, we honor developers who have shown dedication through their works.

For Game Prime Awards 2019, we will have four categories, and the awards will be given to the developers who deserve them. The four categories include:

  • Game of the Year
  • Tabletop Game of the Year
  • Citizen Choice
  • Best Booth

The announcement of the winners, as usual, will be held at the closing session of BEKRAF Game Prime 2019. Now, let’s move on to the nominees of each category:

Game of the Year

This category is for games that caught attention throughout this year.

Happy Glass (Game5Mobile)

First, we have Happy Glass as our nominee. This game previously reached top ranks in the App Store. In this game, your task is to draw a line to fill up a glass with liquid from a bucket. Later on, your task is to align the glass, preventing it from fall down, or preventing another obstacle to falling into the glass.

Happy Glass itself is developed by Game5Mobile who’s based in Surabaya, East Java. It’s the first Indonesian games that successfully passed one hundred million downloads in both Android & iOS.

SHE and The Light Bearer (Mojiken Studio)

She and the Light Bearer is a visual novel that tells about a little firefly on a search mission to find a figure that it calls Mother. It turns out that the entire forest is secretly protecting The Mother in her slumber. The Little Firefly has to earn the forest’s trust and prove its worth by solving riddles, challenges, and puzzles.

The game itself is published by Toge Productions and is a game worthy of playing. In fact, we put in high ratings for this game in our review.

She and the Light Bearer download: Steam (US$9.90) / Nintendo Switch (US$9.99)

Rage in Peace (Rolling Glory)

Rage in Peace is a PC and Nintendo Switch game developed by Rolling Glory Jam from Bandung and published by Toge Productions. This game tells you about Timmy Malinu, an ordinary employee who has been dreaming of dying in peace on his bed.

Rage in Peace started out as a prototype made for Indies vs PewDiePie Jam in November 2014. Now, it has become a contender to become Game Prime Awards 2019’s Game of the Year.

Rage in Peace is now available for PC (through Steam) and Nintendo Switch.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story (Agate Studio)

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is an academy-simulation mix with RPG developed by Agate, an Indonesian-based developer. It focuses on building a school and training students to become the best in combat and magic.

If we were to talk about successful games, it would be unfair to not talk about Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story. In fact, the game successfully gained US$500.000 (or around IDR 7 billion) revenue from its first month’s sales. So it definitely deserves to be on our list.

Hollywhoot (Joyseed Gametribe)

Hollywhoot is a simple and fun game to play. The developer behind the game is Joyseed Gametribe team. It is a Jakarta-based game developer whose passion is to share and discover high quality and value driven games to everyone.

Download Hollywhoot on Android or iOS.

Pamali (Storytale Studios)

After the success of DreadOut, there are not many Indonesian-folklore-based horror games which become so popular.

But now, another indie game studio from Indonesia, StoryTale Studios tries to achieve the same milestone with Pamali: Indonesian Folklore Horror.

Can they go as far as becoming the winner of Game Prime Awards 2019 Game of the Year? We’ll have to wait and see.

Best Tabletop Game

Our next category is Best Tabletop Game for Game Prime Awards 2019. The nominees include:

Circus Politicus (Toge Productions)

After a decade, Toge Productions is now trying to enter the board game industry. It has released its debut in this industry with a political-themed board game called Circus Politicus.

Circus Politicus will put you as a manager for the candidate’s campaign success team. You should manage your strategy to get the most vote and win your political agenda.

Jalan-Jalan (Chiveus)

The next game in the nominee is Jalan-Jalan, which means traveling. And boy, did this game travel. Chiveus, the developers made a mark when they showcased the game in ESSEN Spiel 2018 in Germany.

Bambam Race (Tabletoys)

Next on our list, we have TableToy’s Bambam Race. This game, which also made it to ESSEN Spiel 2018, is about racing. You get to compete with your friends by becoming the fastest by using Track and Action cards.

Cenayang (Memento Craft)

Next, on our list, we have Cenayang from Memento Craft, which is probably one of my favorite board games on this list. This is a unique style of play board game where you can have fun by revealing (and guessing) each other player’s secrets.

Bluffing Billionaires (Masbro)

Lastly, we have Bluffing Billionaire. In this game, you become, well, a millionaire and have to prove other millionaires that you are the richest of them all. All the millionaires will need to show their arrogance. But you need to be careful when taking your turns.

This tabletop game is created by Masbro Games who is based in Jakarta.

As for the two other categories, Citizen Choice will use the voting system while Best Booth is judged by the creativity the booth brings. Winners of the Game of the Year and Citizen Choice in Game Prime Awards 2019 will be able to participate in GameStart Asia 2019 in Singapore.

So, don’t miss out on the announcement!
