Top 10 Indonesian Games at BEKRAF Game Prime 2019

By Muhammad Bilal Syahrir

BEKRAF Game Prime 2019 is a wrap and here is our list of top 10 Indonesian games at the show.

Hollywhoot - Joyseed Gametribe

Hollywhoot is an idle clicker/simulation parodical game based around Hollywood actors, actress, and movies. You play as a movie director from the very early stage of your career to become the best movie director there is.

The first thing that came to our mind when we played the first few hours was that this was not an ordinary clicker game. We saw a lot of clicker games focused on the phrase “the faster you click, the more you succeed”.

Well, in Hollywhoot, you get the same idea, but you are not encouraged to click. In fact, if you do not click, there will be no problem. The only benefit of clicking is that you get to produce your film faster.

You can play Hollywhoot on both Android and iOS.

Pamali - Storytale Studios

Pamali is a horror game shaped by the taboos and culture that live among Indonesian society itself. In this game, you will explore an abandoned Indonesian house to solve the mystery of a family.

Pamali will come in four episodes. On December 28, 2018, Bandung-based StoryTale Studios already released the base game and its first episode. Then, they released the second episode, The Tied Corpse right before BEKRAF Game Prime 2019 happened. The other two episodes will be released continuously later on.

Mark of the Beast - SEMISOFT

Mark of the Beast is an action role-playing game/monster slayer game similar to the likes of Monster Hunter World and Dauntless.

However, Mark of the Beast tries to differ from the other monster-slaying games by focusing on its story. Additionally, they also have a pet system that allows you to capture creatures to become your pet and to fight alongside you.

The first thing that came to my mind when playing this game was that the ecosystem of the game which was quite stunning despite the game being only 10% finished.

Forged of Blood - Critical Forge

Forged of Blood calls itself as a turn-based tactical RPG. It has similarities to XCOM series, especially XCOM 2. In this game, your goal is to conquer all the territory in the strategic map. You have a base in the form of a castle to recruit soldiers, buy upgrades, forge weapons, and create magic.

The back story of this game is quite interesting. It is about a power struggle to unite territories that rebelled from your main character’s kingdom and other factions/races. You are acting like a prince, the brother of the king who is also the commander of the army.

Forged of Blood will be released for PC next August 2019.

Dreadout 2 - Digital Happiness

BEKRAF Game Prime 2019 marks the debut of DreadOut 2, a sequel of the top-selling Indonesian PC game made by Bandung-based Digital Happiness. For two days of the event, the visitor tried the vertical slice build of the game that looks more action-packed than the first game.

Digital Happiness promised that DreadOut 2 will be non-linear storytelling, different than its prequel. Also, now you’re not only using a smartphone along your journey. You can also battle the ghosts using some melee weapons. You can also collect all of the ghost’s lore and complete the encyclopedia.

Unfortunately, no release date announced yet for DreadOut 2. But we see that the game has the potential to continue the prequel’s success.
