Talking about the game industry, Java is arguably the center of Indonesian game industry. So many developers come from Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya which are the main stakeholders of the Indonesian game industry. But in the last two years, many newcomers have been coming from other islands such as Kalimantan and Sumatra. It’s all thanks to programs such as BEKRAF Developer Day.
One of the Kalimantan’s rising stars is Ozysoft Studio which is based in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. Ozysoft started its operation since 2011 when its founder, Ozy started designing a game to fulfill his free time. But his business went skyrocketing since it got the investment in 2017 and formed a legal company in 2018.
Ozysoft’s first flagship commercial game Pulang: Insanity’s demo was launched on June 28th, 2019 in STEAM Platform. Developed since 2013, the game has been played across many countries by gamers over the world. It is a psychological survival horror game that provides a unique Indonesian folk-horror theme, the high quality in terms of standardized graphics, a deathly puzzle, and a very rich story writing.
Gamescom 2019 will be the studio’s first participation in the international event since it formed a legal company, PT. Ozysoft International last year. “Our motivation joining Gamescom 2019 is to find a publisher for our game, Pulang: Insanity,” said Lisun Chang, the Co-Founder of Ozysoft Studio.
Lisun said that Pulang: Insanity is 99% done. “I think our game’s quality can compete in the global market. But unfortunately, we have a limited connection to global publishers. We hope, in this event, we can find publishers that can help us to spread [the word about] our game to the global market,” he continued.
Indonesian games will reach the global market through Europe's biggest game convention, Gamescom 2019 with the support from Archipelageek program.
Besides finding the right publisher for the game, Ozysoft is also offering their outsourcing service in Gamescom 2019. “We also offer work-for-hire services, especially on creating 3D assets for games,” he ended.
