Another highlight came from Arsanesia. This Bandung based game studio announced that it had entered into an agreement with one of the South Korean educational game developers, Minglecon Co., Ltd. The agreement with Minglecon was established on the basis of their common vision and passion in the field of education, and both parties saw a lot of potential in working together to co-develop and promote educational games in Indonesia, Korea, and international markets.

Not many games were released this month. The notable one was My Lovely Daughter from GameChanger Studio which made its way to Nintendo Switch after its huge success on Steam. Also this month, Gamescom announced that it will hold an Asia edition called Gamescom Asia in Singapore in October 2020.

After opening a call for two months, BEKRAF Game Prime announced the top 50 studios that would be exhibited in BEKRAF Game Prime 2019. There were several new names alongside the veterans and some new studios came from outside Java such as from Batam and Kalimantan.

Not much activity has been done by Indonesian developers this month. But maybe one highlight was when Agate announced its collaboration with Hit & Run movie to release an HTML 5 game.

July

An annual game convention, BEKRAF Game Prime 2019 was held on July 13-14, 2019 in Balai Kartini, Jakarta. This year’s event set a new record for 23,472 visitors in two days, or 33% higher than last year’s. As a side note, last year’s BEKRAF Game Prime 2018 was held for three days and recorded 16,270 visitors in total.

This year’s format was slightly different from last year’s. In BEKRAF Game Prime 2019, the organizer did not hold the business day anymore. They stayed focus on maximizing the two public days, by adding more content and improving the quality. These improvements surely made BEKRAF Game Prime 2019 the biggest game event in Indonesia still, as well as an event that is conveniently visited by the gamers.

As the biggest game event in the world, surely Gamescom 2019 is one of the best events to reach the global market, especially for the European market. Every year, this event is attended by more than 350,000 visitors from around the world, with more than 30,000 potential business partners.
